We are delighted to announce that Journal of Visualized Surgery has been accepted for indexing by PubMed/PubMed Central (PMC), a free digital archive database of full-text journal literature in biomedical and life sciences. All articles published since 2024, beginning with Vol 1, will be fully indexed in PMC and accessible via PubMed, a search engine/database of biomedical citations and abstracts.
The inclusion of Journal of Visualized Surgery in PubMed/ PMC is an international recognition of the quality of its contents. It would mean that articles published in the journal, freely accessible through PMC and PubMed will gain increasing visibility and expanding influence worldwide.
Launched in January 2015, Journal of Visualized Surgery (ISSN 2221-2965; J Vis Surg; JOVS) is an international open access, peer-reviewed journal (Figure 1) focused on visualized surgery and the official publication of Asia Thoracoscopic Surgery Education Program (ATEP). JOVS aims to promote the development of surgery around the world by the sharing of surgical experience in visual media between surgeons and clinicians so that all patients may benefit. JOVS is indexed and covered by Web of Science [Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)], and received its first impact factor of 0.4 for the year 2024.

In the year 2025, JOVS has published 30 articles, including Surgical Techniques, Case reports, and Review Articles etc. For more details, please see JOVS’s 2025 Annual Report.
