On September 25, 2017, an exciting news from the PubMed Central was brought to the Editorial Office: the Journal of Visualized Surgery (JOVS) has passed all the evaluation required by PubMed Centre (PMC) and is officially accepted for inclusion in PubMed/PMC! This is an important milestone for JOVS not only as the recognition of JOVS by international peers, but, more importantly, as an encouragement and impetus to move towards the master publication list of SCI-indexed journals.
All previously published content on JOVS will be searchable in PubMed database within 1-2 months. Consequently, authors of JOVS will enjoy maximum exposure of their work in a much more broader platform.
The inclusion in this prominent database convincingly demonstrates the high quality of the published work and the journal’s significant potential, which we own much gratitude to numerous experts. Thus, JOVS would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for the enthusiastic and vigorous support and contributions from all board members, reviewers, authors, and readers!
Born on January 1, 2015, the Journal of Visualized Surgery (ISSN 2221-2965; J Vis Surg; JOVS; jovs.amegroups.com) is a brand new surgical periodical aimed at promoting the development of Visualized Surgery around the world. It provides a professional platform for the sharing of experience in Visualized Surgery between peers so that all patients may benefit from advances made in technique and technology [1]. The focus of JOVS is on instructional and educational video clips, photos, schematics of Visualized Surgical procedures, rather than lengthy text. In addition, JOVS strongly emphasizes the multi-disciplinary nature of modern surgery and requests that articles highlight the roles of each member of the multi-disciplinary surgical team (including surgeon, trainees, anesthetists, physicians of all specialties, nurses, physiotherapists, other allied health professionals, and so on as appropriate).

Over the years, JOVS grows fast and well with support and dedication from experts in all fields worldwide. JOVS has been the official publication of the Asia Thoracoscopic Surgery Education Program (ATEP) since September, 2015 and endorsed by the Brazilian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SBCT), the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT) and the Italian VATS Group (but JOVS is not limited to thoracic surgery) [2-4]. Till September 15, 2017, JOVS has about 83 experts from 24 countries joining the Editorial Board and with effort of our board members and authors, JOVS has published more than 300 scientific articles accompanying more than 470 surgical videos, mainly from the USA and Europe.

Not only publishing hot and interesting themed collections in different surgical fields (Focused Issues), JOVS has also launched some special columns, like the Uniportal VATS teaching sharing, Meet the Professor, Art and Surgery, Aortic Column, etc, to fit for surgeons’ different need for sharing and learning. In the future, JOVS will expand widely to more fields (cardiac surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, liver surgery, etc) so that to benefit more surgeons and readers in different fields.

In the end, we would like to express again our highest appreciation to the distinguished Editors-in-Chief and editorial board members, respectable authors and readers worldwide for their lasting support and contribution to Journal of Visualized Surgery! Thanks to your joint efforts, JOVS is now in a higher level. With this wonderful inclusion to the PubMed/PMC and more confidence, JOVS will work harder to build a robust platform with increased impact for the education, surgical technique communication and exploration of the international surgeons in all fields!
