Dr. Charles T. Bakhos is a Professor in the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at Temple University Hospital (Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA).

Dr. Bakhos completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA) in 2010. During his academic career, he held a faculty position at Albany Medical Center where he was Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Thoracic Surgery, and he is currently Chief of Thoracic Surgery in the Einstein Healthcare Network. His other professional leadership positions include executive board membership in the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society.

Dr. Bakhos specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including both thoracoscopic and robotic approaches to benign and malignant diseases of the lung, mediastinum, chest wall, diaphragm and esophagus. He has special expertise in airway surgery, particularly tracheal stenosis and tracheobronchomalacia, and has a particular interest in surgical education and large database analysis. He has authored numerous publications including original scientific articles, review articles and book chapters, and presented his work at many national and international meetings.

Dr. Bakhos earned his MBA in Healthcare Management from the Fox School of business at Temple University in 2021, and a Master’s degree in cardiovascular pharmacology from the Université Claude Bernard (Lyon, France) in 2002. Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, he is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
