Yuichiro Ueda, MD, PhD
Department of General Thoracic Surgery, Breast and Pediatric Surgery, Fukuoka University School of Medicine, Fukuoka, Japan
Research interests:
Basic research: investigation the field of regenerative medicine using biomaterial, including an artificial trachea and a novel spigot for bronchial occlusion; the spigot promotes regeneration of bronchial epithelium.
Clinical research: precise sublobar resection (PSR) for lung cancer, lung resection using RFID marking system, novel surgical robot with a haptic feedback function, new generation of surgical robots providing a tactile sense.
Yuichiro Ueda graduated from Mie University, Faculty of Medicine in 2008. He completed his surgical residency training in Kitano Hospital and Tenri Hospital from 2008 to 2017. He proceeded to a PhD course in Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, and investigated the field of regenerative medicine using biomaterial. His main research themes are about artificial trachea and robotic surgery. After obtaining PhD in 2021, he became an assistant professor at the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Fukuoka University, Japan. He developed a novel material to promote wound healing at a bronchial defect. Now his research includes ongoing studies in PSR, uniportal VATS and robotic surgery using a new robot with haptic feedback function.
