Surgical Technique on Cardiac Surgery

Minimally invasive cardiac surgery: state-of-the-art right heart surgical technique for tricuspid valve, atrial septal defect and myxoma

Allen Cheng, Amy M. Ramsey

Abstract

Multiple reports have been published and have shown the benefits of minimally invasive heart surgery. The most common adult right heart surgeries are tricuspid valve repair and replacement, atrial septal defect (ASD) closure and myxoma resection. Especially for tricuspid valve disease, despite national guideline, tricuspid regurgitation is commonly under treated with delayed intervention until patients develop liver cirrhosis and right heart failure. With the advancement in minimally invasive heart surgical technique, in this report, we provide some of our insights and up-to-date technique to perform minimally invasive right heart surgery effectively and successfully.
