Description: Rotating the above image 90 degrees counterclockwise, the author still saw a coherent image but, struck by its resemblance to pine trees silhouetted by the Northern Lights, decided to name it “Aurora Borealis”. By receiving a name, this abstraction acquired an additional depth of significance. The beauty of the naming process is that individual viewers can interpret the same image in totally different, and equally valid, ways.
